Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt Manga Enters Hiatus

So, in this special magazine called Big Comic Superior, they said that the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt comic is taking a little break. But don’t worry, it will be back in the 14th issue on June 28th.

This isn’t the first time it’s taken a break. It took a two-month break in December 2022, and then another short one in January.

The person who draws the comic, Yasuo Ohtagaki, had to stop drawing back in September 2018 because his hand was hurting. But he started drawing again in December of that year. He said his left hand was bothering him, so he has to change the way he draws to make sure it doesn’t get worse.

The comic has been around for ten years now! And last year, for its birthday, there was even a special show about it at Gundam Base Tokyo.

Ohtagaki has some plans too. He said at a special event last October that he wants to keep making the comic for another five or six years.

He also said in February 2022 that the comic is getting close to its end.

The story of the comic is about a big war, kinda like the one in the first Mobile Suit Gundam show. It’s all about these two really good pilots fighting each other in a place called the “Thunderbolt Sector.”

Ohtagaki started drawing the comic back in March 2012. And just this February, they made the 23rd book. In English, you can read it thanks to Viz Media. They just released the 20th book in November.

There’s also been some cartoons based on the comic, and even some other comics that tell different stories from the same world.
